In late afternoon on the 12th we hoisted the sails, and of course immediately caught a fish – in this case a nice tuna. Props to Tom for reeling it in, Jeremy for gutting it and preparing it, and Katie for finding everything! After a delicious meal of fresh ceviche, we got into night time mode. There were lovely colors in the sky and a few flashes of lightning overnight; however nothing came too close. The wind died and we resumed motoring. Late in the evening we crossed over 23.5 degrees north and are no longer in the tropics. Around 9 am we crossed our halfway point – we are checking off milestones rapidly! In the early morning we started sailing again. The wind built and squally clouds were all around so we ended up reefing; however the weather that was threatening never quite reached us. As of noon, we have 438 miles left to go, making this a 160 mile day, which isn’t bad considering the conditions.
