We moved on to Hell’s Half Acre, which is one of our favorite anchorages, in a little slot between two tiny islands. It looks quite exposed at high tide, but at low tide you feel quite protected. After the fleet had cocktails on the beach, most people went back to their boats, but we stayed behind to cook steak on the rocks.

After Hells Half Acre, the cruise moved to our final destination, Mount Desert Island. On our Lay Day, we took the Island Explorer shuttle bus and did a lovely hike over Acadia Mountain to Somes Sound. We had a great view of Valley Cove, where we spent a few days last year. On a July Saturday, the park was pretty busy, but there are so many hikes that you can easily escape from the crowds.
