February 27 – March 6: Prince Rupert Bay, Dominica

Our next stop was Prince Rupert Bay towards the north end of Dominica. Not many people visit Dominica; however in recent years it has been branding itself as The Nature Island. It has seven volcanoes, vast rainforests, friendly people and not much development. In Prince Rupert Bay, some of the locals have formed PAYS: Portsmouth Association of Yacht Services. They meet you as you come into the bay, guide you to one of their moorings, run tours to local attractions, patrol the anchorage to make sure there are no problems, and host a Sunday night barbecue for visiting yachties. There are great views and a nice beach for swimming. We found this a great base and stayed a week, during which we did several tours. I have so many photos that I will have to treat the tours separately!
